I am currently employed as associate professor
at the Department of Basic Sciences and Environment at
The Faculty of Life Sciences of the University
of Copenhagen, what used to be
The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL).
I am affiliated with
(the KVL branch of Danish Informatics Network in the Agricultural Sciences).
I used to be "IT coordinator" for the Dina priority area
"spatial statistics in agriculture".
I work mainly in digital image processing and my main
research interest is remote sensing. My PhD work was about predicting the
evolution of weather radar images using a spatial point process framework.
Currently I am working mostly on a project where aiming to extract information
such as heights, species and positions of individual trees from high
resolution aerial images of forest stands.
Some of my publications and talks are available for download.
My current teaching includes the courses "matematik og databehandling" and "image analysis". A spin-off from matematik og databehandling is "Noter om R", an introduction (in Danish) to the statistics software "R".
I used to teach a basic programming course: "programmering" (2000-2004). I was also one of the teachers on the course "databehandling".
I have written a guide on how to use the "MathTime" fonts in LaTeX (replacing this old guide in danish).
I was involved in making animations of current weather radar images from the Danish weather radar network available to the users of "Pl@nteinfo", an internet-based information system for Danish farmers. This was back in the very early days of Java applet technology. Nowadays this service is available directly from the Danish Meteorological Institute but I still keep a demo of my original applet (it was the very first Java code I wrote).
I am the proud father of the cutest twins in the world (but the online gallery has not been updated for quite some time).
My hobbies include boardgaming and play-by-mail games. I even run my own play-by-mail and play-by-email games (COSMOS).
