Venue
The course will be held in Mustiala Faculty of Agriculture, which is
situated in a rural environment in Tammela, about one hour drive from all the main cities of Helsinki, Turku and Tampere. The nearest town, Forssa (18 000 inhabitants), is 10 km away. Supermarkets and a bank are just within 1,5 km distance from Mustiala, in Tammela centre.

The beginning of today´s Mustiala is in the year 1556 when Kustaa Vaasa, King of Sweden, joined six farms located on Mustiala area and founded the King´s Estate. Mustiala had many tenants up till 1840 when the first agricultural school in Finland, Mustialan Maanviljelysopisto, started its activities. Today Mustiala is part of HAMK University of Applied Sciences and there are 360 students in Mustiala. A large park near the lake, the beautiful buildings of 19th century college and campus with all modern conveniences create a unique environment for the summer school.

Internet connection

Wireless network connection is available in class rooms, which are is open daily from morning till night. Each participant should bring a laptop computer with wireless network capability.


Accommodation
The participants will be accommodated in double rooms in the student hostel located in the campus area. The hostel has well-equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities.

 

Food
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon coffee will be served in the refectory of Mustiala.

 

Leisure time
In the attractive park areas of the college there is a museum of agriculture, sauna by the lake and swimming place. There are also some bikes in participants’ use. Mustiala has its own pub and a training brewery, which also produces high quality beer commercially.

 

During the first weekend of August the annual 17th century weekend with food and crafts market, music and drama, takes place in Mustiala. Forssa town festival with popular music events is organised during the same weekend.
